The Winona State University Recreational Programming class will hold the Winona Adventure Race at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Jaycee Pavilion, East Lake Winona.
The goal of the Winona Adventure Race (WAR) is to provide the Winona community with a healthy, fun experience while challenging mental and physical abilities in a variety of outdoor recreational activities. The course consists of canoeing/kayaking, running and road biking. The course takes approximately 1.4 to 2.5 hours to complete.
Participants must provide their own bike and helmet (or rent one from WSU) and bring it to Jaycee Pavilion a half hour prior to their race start time. All other equipment will be provided (canoes/kayaks, etc.).
There are two competition categories: social mixed pairs or elite. The social mixed pairs course is shorter, approximately seven miles, while the elite course is more challenging and competitive, approximately 12 miles.
Cost for the social race is $10 per individual or $20 per pair. The cost for the elite race is $20 per individual. This will include a t-shirt, food and drink.
Space is limited, so early online registration is encouraged: https://winonaadventureracerttr.wordpress.com/forms/
