Enrollment is currently open for the fifth annual “Winona Survivors Unite in Exercise,” a free customized exercise program for cancer survivors. The 12-week session will begin Sept. 22.
Sponsored by Winona State University, Gundersen Lutheran Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, and Winona Health, this program will help cancer patients maintain or improve strength, endurance, flexibility and wellness following treatment. Eligible participants include those who have just completed treatment and those who have been survivors for years.
Participants will meet from 6:45-7:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the WSU Integrated Wellness Complex, room 136. WSU undergraduate students in the Movement Science program will be trained in working with cancer survivors and will spend the semester leading participants in exercise regimens.
Participants must receive approval from the program director and their physicians before beginning the program.
