Winona State’s Department of Theatre and Dance will hold auditions for their 2015 fall season at 6 p.m. on August 26 and 27 in the Performing Arts Center.
The productions are “Elephant’s Graveyard” by George Brant, with performances on Oct. 14 through Oct. 17, and “A Christmas Tuna” by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, with performances on Nov. 18 through Nov. 22.
Auditions are open to campus and the Winona community. No audition material is required. Scripts will be available at the auditions for cold readings.
Scripts for both productions are on limited reserve for perusal at the WSU Library.
“The Elephant’s Graveyard” ‘is the true tale of the tragic collision of a struggling circus and a tiny town in Tennessee, which resulted in the only known lynching of an elephant. Set in September of 1916, the play combines historical fact and legend, exploring the deep-seated American craving for spectacle, violence and revenge.’
“A Christmas Tuna” is a farcical segment about the town of Tuna, Texas. Two actors play all the townspeople in Tuna, whatever the gender, which include very quick costume changes. “A Christmas Tuna” is a silly, holiday romp.
