WSU-2014-HOPEWinona State University will host HOPE Academy June 17-27 on the WSU campus.

HOPE Academy, which stands for Harnessing Opportunities for Post-Secondary Education, is a 10-day summer residential program for students in grades 9-12. The academy provides underrepresented and underprivileged students the opportunity to experience real college life by engaging them in college-level courses and workshops to develop & explore their leadership skills.

In addition to academic courses, HOPE academy offers leadership training and communication and interpersonal skill building activities with the intent to help students and their families move beyond the financial, social and academic barriers to a successful undergraduate college experience.

Volunteers are still needed to help with set-up, cleanup and tutoring students. Applications are available online at http://www.winona.edu/inclusion-diversity/hopeacademy.asp.

Hope Academy is sponsored by WSU’s Inclusion and Diversity Office.
