Winona State University will host “The Time for Justice is Now: Race, Policing and the Criminal Justice System” with Nekima Levy-Pounds, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 in East Hall, Kryzsko Commons.
Levy-Pounds is a professor of law, civil rights attorney, expert on civil rights and social justice, and co-founder and board chair for Brotherhood Inc. She has a passion for improving the lives of African Americans, focusing on African American males from 16 to 24-years-old. She has taught programs on the impacts of unjust racial laws and limitations for African Americans for law enforcement agencies, correctional facilities and schools.
Levy-Pounds currently teaches at the University of St. Thomas Law School, where she continues to pursue legal and scholarly work to promote awareness and understanding of racial issues.
