Winona State University will host “Islam and Muslims: Beyond The Stereotypes of Terrorism,” featuring Rashed Ferdous, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in Harriet Johnson Auditorium, Somsen Hall.
The event will promote positive discussion about tolerance and respect and highlight thoughts from Muslim Americans about current affairs locally and around the world.
Ferdous is from Islamic Resource Group, a Minnesota non-profit and educational organization. He is involved in interfaith activities in eastern Minnesota, including Interfaith Habitat for Humanity, youth events and television shows, and he serves on the board of directors of Masjed AbuBakr Al-Seddiq.
The event is free and open to the public and hosted by the WSU Office of Inclusion and Diversity and Muslim Student Association.
