Winona State University’s Outreach and Continuing Education Department will present the Road Scholar program, “Norwegian Culture/Heritage and Theater of Henrik Ibsen,” April 10-15 in Lanesboro, Minn.
The Commonweal Theatre’s annual Ibsen festival honors the 19th-century playwright. The festival will feature the play “Brand,” and will include classes taught by actors, technicians and producers.
The program will teach about the sounds, tastes and visual arts of Scandinavian culture and history. A trip to the Vesterheim Museum in Decorah, Iowa, with exhibits featuring folk and decorative arts, and the tools and machinery of immigrant life, is included.
Free time will be available during the day to explore the bike and walking trails and to visit the shops in Lanesboro.
The program includes a five-night stay with lodging and 14 meals included in the price. A commuter option is also available.
