Winona State University will host “Beekeeping Basics” 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in Pasteur Hall.
Participants will explore basics of apiculture and the benefits of honey bees; find out how to establish a small apiary; discover the value and benefits of bees and small-scale apiculture; and learn about bee products and production (e.g.: honey, wax, royal jelly).
Instructor Bruno Borsari, associate professor of biology at WSU, has 25 years of experience in habitat restoration and sustainable agriculture.
Cost to attend is $85. Registration fee includes participant materials, morning refreshments and a box lunch.
