The Winona State University Department of Music will present the 21st annual Messiah Sing-In at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in Harriet Johnson Auditorium in Somsen Hall.
The WSU choirs will present the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah.” The event is a sing-in style concert, which allows the audience to sing along with the choirs.
The combined ensemble will include members from the WSU Concert and Women’s Chorus directed by Harry Mechell, WSU Flute Choir directed by Bethany Gonella and the Winona Oratorio Chorus also directed by Harry Mechell. The WSU ACDA Vocal Ensemble and High School Honors Choir will also perform. All of the choirs will also perform seasonal selections of their choice.
Featured vocal soloists for “Messiah” will include sopranos Margot Friedli, Brooke May, Caitlin Pronley and Meagan Britain; tenors Ben Mahlke and Vance Dahl and guest bass soloist Jon Nordstrom.
Community members are encouraged to bring their own music scores to the performance. Scores are also available for purchase at the event.
Tickets are $10 for adults. Admission is free for senior citizens, students with school ID, and WSU faculty and staff.
