Winona State University CLASP lecture series will host global studies and world languages associate professor Michael Bowler for the presentation “Global Citizenship” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Stark Auditorium.
Bowler will examine the parameters and definitions of service learning, an integral part of civic action that is typically seen as hands-on. Bowler will address the question of whether indirect service to the wider world as global citizens, including WSU’s mission to improve the world, can also be considered service learning.
Bowler’s areas of interest include global poverty and sustainable development, refugees, Asian international relations, the cultures of South and Southeast Asia, and global service learning and global citizenship.
