There’s still time to register for Grandparents University June 20-21 at Winona State University.
Participants learn in WSU classrooms with WSU professors, and sample the many summer highlights of WSU and the City of Winona. This year Grandparents University will feature six different majors: composite materials engineering, English, geoscience, global studies, mass communication, and recreation and tourism.
Students majoring in mass communication will take “The Thrill of Digital Photography” and explore how photographers see the world. The class will cover how to use a digital camera, how to shoot portraits and other photographs, and introduce computer photo editing and photo archiving.
Other classes include: Outdoor Quest! (kayak/canoe/geocache); Bonjour, French Friends!; Composites in a Material World; Our Family Stories; and Astronomy—Hey, What’s Up?.
Participants do not have to be a grandparent to participate. Grandparents University offers any special “grandfriend” the opportunity to explore college life and create lifelong memories. Grandparents University also will accept trios of participants. Two grandparents can bring one grandchild, or one grandparent can bring two grandchildren. All must be enrolled in the same major.
On-campus housing in WSU’s New Residence Hall is available.
Grandparents University is sponsored by the WSU Retiree Center.
