Does your middle school or high school student love jazz?

Registration is open now through June 19 for the ninth annual Dixieland Jazz Workshop June 26-29 at Winona State University.

The workshop will allow middle and high school students to explore jazz music and perform in a local jazz festival on the WSU campus at noon Saturday, June 29.

Students may attend a four-day workshop or a two-day workshop. The four-day workshop runs June 26-29 and costs $249 per student, which includes overnight accommodations in WSU residence halls and a meal plan. Local students who do not need accommodations may attend for $209. The two-day workshop runs June 28-29 and costs $119 per student. Local students who do not need accommodations may attend for $99.

Students who participate in the four-day workshop will also perform Thursday, June 27.

The Dixieland Jazz Workshop is sponsored by the WSU Music Department and directed by WSU Music Professor Rich MacDonald. MacDonald performs regularly as a drummer and vibraphonist at jazz venues in the Southeastern Minnesota/Western Wisconsin region. He is also principal percussionist with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.
