The Winona State Pi Lambda Phi fraternity will present the 19th Annual Miss WSU Pageant at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in Somsen Auditorium.
The event will feature a silent auction, bag toss and other activities. Prizes will be awarded.
Miss WSU 2013 candidates include: Mary Carbone, Delta Phi Epsilon; Henriette Hoyos, Pi Lambda Phi; Megan Ulmanis, Sigma Sigma Sigma; Meghan Edstrom, Greek Council; Sarah McGarvey, Sigma Tau Gamma; Erika Trefz, Pi Sigma Epsilon; Kasey Bruha, Veterans Club; Kelsey Rice, College Republicans; Salome Kyle, Soccer Club; and Ashley Greindl, Phi Theta Chi.
This event is open to the public. Tickets cost $6, $4 for students. A group rate is available for $3 with 20 or more prepaid tickets.
All proceeds from the pageant will benefit the United Adrenoleukodystrophy Foundation. A former WSU Pi Lambda Phi fraternity brother, Shayde Rudenick, passed away from the disease in 1994. Rudenick created the Ms. WSU Pageant in 1992 to raise money for a charitable cause of the brothers’ choice. After he passed away, the fraternity voted unanimously to donate to the ULF. This will be the 19th annual pageant raising money for adrenoleukodystrophy. During the last 18 years, more than $11,000 has been raised. This year’s goal is $1,000.
