The 24 Hour Theatre Show will be presented on Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
The Winona State University Department of Theatre & Dance (THAD) will present the fourth annual “24 Hour Theatre Show” at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in the Dorothy B. Magnus Black Box Theatre in the Performing Arts Center.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Limited seating will be available.
The show is free and open to the public.
WSU students will gather at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12, to write, cast, direct, rehearse, build, light, costume and perform three short plays within a non-stop 24-hour period. This student-run show challenges the thespians to create quality plays and to think quickly and creatively within a limited timeframe and non-traditional circumstances. During the creation of the plays, students will utilize valuable tools learned onstage, backstage, and in theatre and dance classes. All WSU students are encouraged to participate.
A live stream of the production’s creation will keep audience members informed on how the process is going and give a sneak peek of what this year’s shows will be. The “24 Hour Theatre Show” will collect donations for Project SUCCESS. This youth-development organization works with students over a seven-year period, from middle school through high school, to help them develop life-long skills. Project SUCCESS uses theatre to teach students how to make informed choices and plan for meaningful futures with enriched imaginations, increased confidence, positive outlooks, clearly defined goals and well-planned strategies for success. The organization was founded in 1994 and has grown to serve more than 11,000 students in Minneapolis and St. Paul annually.
