The Winona State University Department of Mathematics and Statistics will host the Midwest Undergraduate Data Analytics Competition (MUDAC) Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7, on the Winona State campus.
This competition brings together more than 100 people from colleges and universities across the Midwest. Teams of undergraduate students and their advisors will utilize data analysis skills to solve a data analytics problem for Fastenal Corporation. Participants work over an intense 24-hour period to complete an analysis, provide a written summary of their findings, and present their outcomes to business analytics representatives from Fastenal.
“Data analytics, the process by which raw data is turned into useful information, is becoming increasingly important in today’s job market,” said MUDAC director Chris Malone. “Data is everywhere, but knowing how to extract and communicate relevant information from data is a skill few possess. MUDAC brings together future analysts from around the Midwest and allows them to showcase their sought-after talents.”
More than $1,000 in prizes will be awarded to competition participants.
