Winona State University will host “Where an Inter/discipline Excels: Women’s and Gender Studies and 21st Century Higher Education” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Somsen Auditorium.
Keynote speakers Catherine Orr and Diane Lichtenstein will examine the field’s foundational assumptions as they trace and expose critical paradoxes, ironies and contradictions embedded in the language of Women’s and Gender Studies – from its high theory to its casual conversations. Orr and Lichtenstein, along with Ann Braithwaite, co-authored the book “Rethinking Women’s and Gender Studies.”
The keynote speech is part of the celebration of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program’s 20th anniversary.
This event is free and open to the public.
