Winona State University will host a performance of “The Naked I: Wide Open (Abridged)” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in Somsen Auditorium.
The play, comprised of monologues and short scenes, is based off the original production “The Naked I: Monologues From Beyond The Binary” by transgender playwright Tobias K. Davis. 20% Theatre Company performed the original sold-out production in 2009. “The Naked I: Wide Open (Abridged)” was created by the company and premiered in February 2012 to eight sold-out houses. More than 50 Twin Cities artists are featured, and the play is filled with true stories by transgender/gender non-conforming individuals and allies. It explores gender identity far beyond the land of male and female.
This event is free and open to the public.
The play is part of the celebration of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program’s 20th anniversary.
