Winona State University will offer “Human Relations Training for Professionals” with civil rights activist Charles McDew from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, in Kryzsko Commons, Dining Rooms E,F and G.
McDew is the former chairman of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (1961-64). McDew has devoted his life to the issues of social and political change, to the empowerment and development of black leadership, to civil and human rights, and to the fight against racism. McDew recently retired from Metropolitan State University, where he taught classes on the history of the civil rights movement, African-American history, and social and cultural awareness.
The event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by WSU Rochester, WSU Winona, WSU College of Education, Southeast Technical College and Target Corporation.
