WSU-2013-FRFFWinona State University will present the eighth annual Frozen River Film Festival Wednesday-Sunday, Jan. 23-27.

WSU students are able to attend festival events for free. They must present their student ID at each event.

Tickets can be purchased at the FRFF Box Office at Chapter 2 Books, 121 W. Third Street, or onsite at festival events. Box office hours will be from 10 a.m-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday through Jan. 25. For more information about ticketing, contact Kathy Florin at kathy@frff.org.

The opening film Thursday, Jan. 24, is “Living Downstream” featuring cancer victim Sandra Steingraber as she uses her knowledge and training as a biologist to bridge the gap between what scientists and the medical community regard as the causes of cancer. Steingraber will be available to speak after the film.

World-renowned clarinetist Evan Christopher will appear as the featured performer in Winona’s third annual New Orleans Jazz Artist Series at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets for Christopher are $15, or free for members of Friends of Jazz.

The Frozen River Film Festival identifies and offers programs that engage, educate and activate viewers to become involved in the world.
