Winona State University will host an Open House for the new Collaborative Healthcare Simulation and Learning Center from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. The center is located in the historic Massey Building in downtown Rochester. The open house will include a ribbon cutting, and will be free and open to the public.

The Collaborative Simulation Center is the result of many years of planning by the Greater Rochester Advocates for Universities and Colleges (GRAUC) and grant funding from the State of Minnesota. It has been developed a prototype learning lab in which students and faculty in the Rochester area can learn together. A learning activities subcommittee has identified common scenarios and curricula available to anyone wishing to use them, and the center has space for learning with virtual anatomy, virtual reality (VR), standardized participants, and other simulation-based technologies.

The prototype center will allow evaluation of the needs for such a space in the community, identification of the resources needed to operate the space, and explore business models and partnerships to maintain and operate the center beyond the grant.
