Winona State University will offer “Who do you think you are?” as part of Senior University WSU from 2-4 p.m. Thursdays Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 12 and 20, in Maxwell 158.
This course will provide the knowledge and tools to trace genealogy. Participants will learn to trace their lineage and take the journey to discover who they are and document their ancestors.
Course instructor is genealogical researcher Janis Martin. Her 20-year career includes client research for those tracing their family, and various classes and workshops on topics related to genealogy. Martin also serves as director of Unclaimed Persons, a national volunteer organization that assists coroners and medical examiners by using genealogical techniques to locate next of kin.
Tuition is $40. Registration forms are available from the WSU Retiree Center, or online at http://winona.augusoft.net. There is a limit of ten students per a session. A reading list will be made available.
Senior University WSU consists of four to six -week, non-credit courses with no tests, grades, papers, or homework. Courses are taught by WSU faculty, retirees and community members. The courses promote continued life-long learning and personal, intellectual and cultural enrichment.
