The Winona State University Department of Theatre and Dance (THAD) will present the play “Speech and Debate” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29-Saturday, Dec. 1, and Thursday, Dec. 6-Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Dorothy B. Magnus Black Box Theatre of the Performing Arts Center.
“Speech and Debate,” written by Stephen Karam, is a dark comedy that examines the struggles and triumphs of the modern high school environment. Three teenage misfits find themselves connected through a sex scandal that has shaken their town. When one of the students attempts to expose the truth, more secrets are revealed and the trio forms a speech and debate team to express their views in a public platform. What they discover is collaboration, communication and a connection in a seemingly “adult” world.
WSU THAD professor Heather Williams will direct.
Tickets are $6 for students with ID and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased online at www.winona.edu/thad or by calling the PAC Box Office at 507-457-5235.
This play is suggested for mature audiences only.
