OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Winona State University CLASP lecture series will host “Civic Action and the Library” with Tammi Owens at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, in Stark Auditorium, room 103.

Owens will discuss case studies of libraries and librarians fighting censorship, building information literacy, and spanning the digital divide that is at the core of civic action. The talk will encourage audience members to think beyond the traditional “library” and be inspired to make a difference in their community using three non-traditional libraries.

Owens is an assistant professor and emerging services and liaison librarian at WSU. She has bachelor’s degrees from University of Nebraska-Omaha and master’s degrees from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Owens specializes in virtual reference and the use of technology in academic libraries.
