workshop

The Winona State University Department of Music will host the elementary music workshop “Drumming and Beyond in the Elementary Music Classroom” from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, in Performing Arts Center room 159.

Participants in the workshop will learn how to incorporate drumming, percussion and sound exploration concepts into their K-6 classrooms. Emphasis will be on building a greater understanding of how to teach easy improvisation and drumming ensembles. The workshop will also explain how teachers can adapt the ideas and concepts to instruments they already have in their classrooms.

Workshop clinician Paul Corbiére has taught elementary general music for 20 years and is a member of the World Music Drumming Teaching Staff. He has been a featured clinician at various conferences including those for the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.

Registration costs $25. This is the final workshop in this year’s elementary workshop series.
