Winona State University will present Scott Rettberg and Jill Walker Rettberg as part of the Digital Culture Speaker Series March 20 and 21 in Harriet Johnson Auditorium, Somsen Hall.
Scott Rettberg will present “Combinatory Films,” which explores his work with experimental database-driven video, from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday, March 20. Rettberg is from the University of Bergen in Norway. He has co-authored several works of electronic literature including “The Unknown,” “Kind of Blue” and “Implementation” . His work has been shown online and at art venues across the United States, including the Beall Center in Irvine, Calif.; the Slought Foundation in Philadelphia, Penn.; and the Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois.
Jill Walker Rettberg will present “Social Media” at noon Friday, March 21. She will discuss how we tell stories online, with a particular interest in social media and personal narratives.
Walker Rettberg, also of the University of Bergen in Norway, has published a number of articles about early hypertext fiction, digital art, electronic literature and social media. She has published one book, Blogging and co-edited an anthology of scholarship titled, Digital Culture, Play and Identity: A World of Warcraft Reader.
