The Winona State University Retiree Center will offer the Senior University course “America in the Vietnam War Era” beginning Wednesday, July 9.

Tomas Tolvaisas, associate professor in the history department at WSU, will teach the course. Tolvaisas’s teaching and research areas include The Cold War, The Vietnam War, American Foreign Relations and International History.

This course will explore the complexity of causes, stages and consequences of growing U.S. involvement in and subsequent disengagement from the Southeast Asian conflict. Although this not a specialized military history course, it will outline major military objectives, strategies and tactics of the struggling powers.

The class will meet for five sessions from 2-4 p.m. July 9, 16, 23, 30 and Aug. 6 in Minne Hall.

Registration forms are available from the WSU Retiree Center, 507-457-5565 or online at http://winona.augusoft.net. Early registration is recommended.

The class is open to the public and costs $40.
