The Winona State University Department of Theatre and Dance will present “Dancescape 2014” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, through Saturday, Feb. 15, on the Main Stage of the Performing Arts Center.

The event will showcase original choreography and performances by WSU students, faculty and guest choreographers.

The 55-member Dancescape cast and crew includes student dancers, faculty and student choreographers.

There will be a session after the Thursday night performance in which audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions about the performance.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and can be purchased online at www.WSUArtsTickets.com or by calling the Box Office at 507-457-5235.

Student choreographers whose work was chosen include Alexandra Tkachuk, Kathryn Rudolph, Alyssa Sawinski, Kelsey Etter, Kayla Kujak, Sydney Swanson, Marcus Wodarski, Robert Deering, Maria Ausen and Pedro Lander.

The performance will also display various works by guest and faculty choreographers including Paula Mann, Jane Peck and WSU Dance Program Director Gretchen Cohenour.

Mann is a dancer, professional choreographer and director. Students will perform her piece “Want Not,” which explores the idea of desire.

The performance will also include “Keep These Animals Afloat” by Gretchen Cohenour. Local musician Noah Glenn Short will perform original music live for the piece.

The Koutsky guest artist Jane Peck created “Hot Feet” to be performed by the students. The ballroom dance combines dialogue, video and vintage music.

Production crew for the performance includes WSU employees Peggy Sannerud, and Tracy Van Voorst, and students Evelyn Trulen, Anthony Stewart, Shelly Gorack, Sidney Junk and Amanda Gehrke.
