WSU-2013-Commencement

Close to 1,200 students will participate in the Winona State University Spring 2013 Commencement ceremonies Friday, May 10, in McCown Gymnasium in Memorial Hall on the Winona campus.

The morning ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and include the College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts. The afternoon ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and include the College of Education, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the College of Science and Engineering.

Doors open one hour prior to each ceremony.

A reception will be held following each ceremony at the pavilion near the Alumni Gazebo in the center of campus (rain location: Talbot Gymnasium, Memorial Hall).

The guest speaker for Spring 2013 Commencement is community activist, businessman and philanthropist Terry Lierman, a WSU alumnus who went on to become the youngest Staff Director/Chief Clerk in Congressional History.

The comments of a graduating student are featured as part of each Winona State Commencement ceremony. Adreianna Spear, a professional studies major from Waseca, Minn., will speak at the morning ceremony. Vera Ndumbe, a social work major from Rochester, Minn., will speak at the afternoon ceremony.

Communication studies majors Jessica Taplin, from Woodbury, Minn., and Erin Haugen, from Apple Valley, Minn., will introduce the degree candidates.

The Spring 2013 Commencement ceremonies are open to the public. There are no tickets for this event. Seating is first come, first served.
