Winona State University’s Department of Music and Dance presents a Jazz Combos concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19 in the Art Tye Lounge of Kryzsko Commons.

Two groups will be featured in the performance. The Dixie Midnight Runners, a 10-piece group that specializes in New Orleans music from Dixieland to contemporary New Orleans brass bands, will feature selections including Muskrat Ramble by Edward “Kid” Ory, Canal Street Blues by Joe “King” Oliver and Do Whatcha Wanna by Kermit Ruffins and the Rebirth Brass Band. The second group, Combo I—Bopaganda, is a six-piece group that features more of a be-bop swing style. Members of this group are known for their improvisation skills. This group will be performing a more standard jazz repertoire with selections including Invitation by Kaper and Webster, Agua de beber by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Four on Six by Wes Montgomery.

The groups are conducted by professor of music Rich MacDonald.

The performance is free and open to the public.
