Winona State University library technician Nathan Wardinski will present “Do Film Critics Matter?” at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, on the second floor of the Darrell W. Krueger Library.

For most of the history of cinema, film criticism has been limited to a select few. The internet has democratized film criticism and flooded the market with new voices leaving many film critics out of work. Wardinski will discuss the change in film criticism and speculate on its value and function for the future.

All WSU Athenaeum Series events are free and open to the public.

The Athenaeum hosts events that explore and enhance the intellectual life of the University and the region through lectures, readings, performances, discussions and other events. By bringing together scholars, performers, students and community members for intellectual discussion and the sharing of cultural experiences, the Athenaeum reflects the importance the University places on the humanities, the arts and the sciences.
