The Winona State University Department of Music will present “Calle Sur—Viva Mexico! The Music of Mexico with a Musical Journey through South America” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Performing Art Center Recital Hall.

The musical quintet will feature Ed East (of Panama) and Karin Stein (of Columbia) on guitarrón, bass, jarana, and vihuela, accompanied by guest harpist Daniel Rojas, guest violinist Tito Barrios, and guest trumpet player Richie Velazquez. All three guest artists are members of the Miami-based “Mariachi Voces de America.”

The concert will coincide with the Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico.
