Winona State University will offer “The Protestant Experiment in America” as part of Senior University WSU from 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 7 to Dec. 12, in Somsen Hall room 320.

The course will include a brief, lively history of Protestantism in the United States, focusing on basic themes, challenges and characteristics. Social, economic, political and other influences will be considered, along with how these forces have changed over time and how some issues continue to resonate in American society today.

The course instructor is Tim Forestor. Forestor has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history and a Master of Divinity, including further classes in religion in America, church history, issues in religion, and sociology of religion. His interests include interaction and mutual influences of different traditions and cultures.

Tuition is $40. Registration forms are available from the WSU Retiree Center, or online at http://winona.augusoft.net. A reading list will be made available.

Senior University WSU consists of four to six-week, non-credit courses with no tests, grades, papers, or homework. Courses are taught by WSU faculty, retirees and community members. The courses promote continued life-long learning and personal, intellectual and cultural enrichment.
